Service Overview
FileOtter provides browser-based PDF and image utilities. By using the website, you agree to these terms and remain responsible for the files you select and the outputs you download.

- Guides and supporting information published on the website
Free Use and Optional Accounts
The public PDF and image tools are currently available without a subscription or account requirement. Choosing to sign in does not change the browser-based file-processing workflow or authorize a charge.
If you create or use an account, provide accurate information, protect your credentials, and notify us if you believe the account has been accessed without permission.
File and Device Limits
The limit displayed on each tool page forms part of that tool's description. A file within the stated size limit can still fail because of password protection, damaged data, unsupported features, low browser memory, or device performance.
PDF considerations
- • Password-protected files may be rejected
- • Bookmarks, forms, links, and signatures may not survive re-layout
- • Structural optimization may produce little or no size reduction
Image considerations
- • Lossy formats can reduce visual quality
- • Transparency and animation support depend on the target format
- • Metadata preservation is not guaranteed
Prohibited Activities
- Using the service for illegal activity or to violate intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights
- Processing files you do not own or have permission to use
- Introducing malware, harmful code, or files intended to attack a browser or device
- Attempting to reverse engineer, disrupt, overload, scrape, or bypass technical safeguards
- Misrepresenting FileOtter outputs, availability, or affiliation
Your Files, Rights, and Backups
FileOtter does not take ownership of files selected in a public tool. You must have the right to process each source file and remain responsible for the content.
Keep the original and a suitable backup. Downloaded outputs may differ because of compression, conversion, cropping, page ordering, PDF structure changes, or browser and format limitations.
Data Security and Privacy
Our current workflow
- The public tools process file content in the browser.
- Selected file bytes are not sent to a FileOtter processing API.
- Normal website analytics, advertising, authentication, and support data are separate from file processing.
Your responsibility
- Use a trusted and updated browser and device.
- Avoid exposing confidential files on shared or managed devices.
- Review the Privacy Policy before using optional account or support features.
Service Availability
FileOtter may change, suspend, or discontinue a tool or limit access when needed for maintenance, security, legal compliance, provider changes, or product development.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, compatibility with every browser, or successful processing of every file.
Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The service is provided as available without a warranty that every file will work, every output will meet a particular purpose, or access will be uninterrupted.
To the extent allowed by law, FileOtter is not responsible for losses caused by deleting an original, relying on an unchecked output, incompatible file features, device failure, or use that violates these terms.
