Privacy Policy
How file processing differs from normal website and account data
Our File Privacy Commitment
The public PDF and image tools process selected file content in your browser. Those files are not uploaded to a FileOtter server for processing.
What Information We Collect
Files selected in a tool
- File content is read locally by your browser to perform the selected task.
- FileOtter does not intentionally send file bytes, names, or document contents to analytics services.
- Generated downloads are created on your device and remain under your control.
Information you choose to provide
- If you sign in, the account provider may process your email address and profile details.
- If you contact support, we receive your email address, message, and any attachment you deliberately send.
- Do not send sensitive source files unless they are necessary for support.
How We Process Data
Local file processing
- • PDF structure optimization
- • PDF merging and page arrangement
- • Image compression, cropping, and conversion
- • Device memory and CPU perform the work
- • Reloading the page clears in-memory working data
Normal website services
- • Page visits and browser information
- • Approximate location and device information
- • Interaction and performance measurements
- • Advertising identifiers where applicable
- • Optional account and support records
Storage and Retention
What the public tools do not store
- Selected PDF or image contents
- Generated output file contents
- File names or embedded document metadata as a tool record
Records that may be retained
- Optional account records while an account is active or as required for security
- Support correspondence as needed to respond and prevent abuse
- Aggregated or provider-held analytics and advertising records under their policies
Third-Party Services and Cookies
Analytics and advertising
FileOtter may use Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Plausible, and Google AdSense. These services can receive page, browser, device, approximate location, interaction, and advertising information according to their own policies. File content is not intentionally included in those events.
Cookies and browser storage
Analytics, advertising, authentication, and site functionality may use cookies or browser storage. You can limit them through browser or consent controls, although doing so may affect optional features.
Your Choices and Rights
- Use the public tools without signing in.
- Clear cookies, browser storage, and downloaded outputs from your device.
- Adjust analytics, advertising, and browser privacy controls.
- Request access, correction, or deletion of information you deliberately provided, subject to applicable law.
- Stop using the service at any time.
Security and Limitations
Local processing reduces file-transfer risk, but no website, browser, or device is completely secure. Use an up-to-date browser, avoid untrusted shared devices, and keep the original file until you verify the generated output.
